Steffen Normark is a Norwegian photographer and artist specializing in portraiture, fashion, and photographic art. Drawing inspiration from Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh, and Estevan Oriol his work is defined by its striking contrast and atmospheric mood. Born and raised in Narvik, a small town above the Arctic Circle, he now resides in Oslo, Norway.
Normark is a big lover of music. Having played in several bands over the years, he now collaborates with musicians and artists, creating album artwork, portraits and music videos that visually amplify their sound and identity.
Normark’s photography ranges from powerful black-and-white imagery to carefully composed color work that always focuses on capturing presence and emotion. He never discusses the thoughts or meanings behind his images. Instead, he prefers to let them speak for themselves, stating that «sometimes less is needed to be said to create a greater meaning in both art and music»
In response to the rise of AI-generated imagery, Normark has embraced analog photography, deepening his connection to both the moment and the craft. He describes film photography as akin to listening to a favorite record on vinyl.
